Strobing: Just Another Trend or the Real Deal?

Hello everyone! Today I am going to be talking about a new makeup trend call strobing, explain what strobing is, how to strobe, and decide if I think strobing is ‘just another trend or the real deal’.

Strobing has been really popular lately, and I am unsure if it’s really worth the hype. This is because strobing is just highlighting without contouring. If you don’t know what highlighting and contouring are, highlighting is when you highlight the high points of your face where the sun would naturally hit, with a highlighter, and not the kind you use in school ;). You can use a liquid highlighter or a powder one. Contouring is when you use bronzer to make your cheekbones look sharper and more prominent. You can also use bronzer to ‘warm up your face’, which is really just adding a natural glow into your skin.
How to Strobe
Strobing is very easy, and you only need a couple items to do it.
You will Need:
Any type of highlighter (solid, stick, or liquid)
A makeup brush
Start by doing your normal face makeup, but make sure not to contour. This is the time you will need your highlighter and makeup brush. Add highlighter to your brush and apply it to your cheekbones, forehead, cupid’s bow (the little divot above your top lip), and down the bridge of your nose. Then, blend out any harsh lines, if necessary. Now you’re done!
Just Another Trend or the Real Deal
Overall, I think that strobing is the real deal. I think strobing looks very natural if it is done correctly. It’s also an effective way to give your face a natural glow without contouring.
