the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health.
Hi guys! Welcome back to my blog! I haven’t posted in a while, and I am so sorry. I am going to be completely raw and honest and say that I haven’t actually sat down to write a post in forever. I was honestly being lazy and unmotivated, but I’m ready to start posting again. I have a ton of ideas for posts that I am so excited to write for you guys. The motivation to post is back, and honestly, I missed this so much. I apologize for neglecting you all and taking this site for granted. I am going to start posting again, and I will make sure to stay consistent because this is truly what I love to do. ANYWAYS, enough with the long intro! In this post, I will be giving you guys my tips for self-care. I have been in a weird place lately (I blame the Mercury retrograde and Venus going direct lol) so these tips have helped a lot. This won’t be your typical self-care post though; I have one that I bet you guys have never thought of. As always, I will link all the products mentioned at the end of the post. Enjoy!
Tips (How-to Practice Self-Care)
- Take a bath.
When you do this, don’t just fill up the bath with water and call it a day. Do the whole thing. Use bath bombs, bath salts, and bubble bath. Use some essential oil, lavender is really relaxing. Put on some good music (I will link some playlists and albums at the end of this post) and chill out.
- Do a face mask and lay on the floor of the shower.
Yes, I said lay on the floor of your shower. This week, I was so stressed and out of it that for some reason while I was showering I felt it’d be a good idea to lay down. That was the best feeling ever. The steam all around you with the water from the shower is so relaxing. If you wanna be extra, wash your face (my favorite cleanser is pictured below), throw on a face mask (I love the Indian Aztec Clay Mask), put some essential oil on the shower floor, and lay down. Then, meditate for 2 minutes and you will feel so much better.
- Indulge in your favorite food
Food=therapy. NO, I am not encouraging binge eating or just using food as a coping mechanism and eating for the sake of eating. If you feel hungry, make your favorite dish, unhealthy or healthy. Savor the flavor of the food. Go get frozen yogurt or ice cream spontaneously at night. Go to Starbucks one morning. Maybe stop by Dunkin Donuts. Trust me, sometimes some good food and coffee are all your soul needs to feel that much better.
The majority of us do NOT get enough sleep, including me. For the past three nights, I have been up until almost 1am doing homework and studying, and now it’s Friday night and I’m up at 12:10am writing this blog post. Because of this, I am extremely sleep-deprived and I need a morning to just sleep in. Honestly, sleeping in can change your entire mood and make all the difference. Sleeping is the best medicine, to be honest.
- Pets!! Hang out with your animals
Pets are so full of positive energy and love. Hanging around a pet can seriously improve your mood no matter how stressed out you are. When I’m feeling super stressed or anxious, going and sitting with my puppy always helps. The best thing about a pet is that they can’t talk, you can just sit and hold them and pet them until you feel better. This tip always works for me, every time.
- Hang out with your close friends
My friends are my support system. Now that I am a junior in high school, I have made my friend group super small. My two closest friends are my support system, and I don’t know what I would do without them. Going and hanging out with them always helps improve my mood. Even a simple Facetime call or text from them brightens my day. JAM (BEST FRIEND) AND KATE (OTHER BEST FRIEND) if you guys are reading this, thank you for putting up with me. I am so grateful for you both, Love you guys.
Love you all!
